North East Women’s Shelter
We are a 16 bed, short-term emergency shelter that offers 24 hour in-house shelter and services for women and children who are fleeing domestic violence situations.

Emergency Receiving Home
The most recent addition to our list of services is the opening of our 12-bed Emergency receiving home for children who have been apprehended from their homes. This home serves our community as well as the rest of the province.
Walk-in Counselling in the North East
Walk-in Counselling Clinics are an immediate, accessible form of brief counselling. Due to a steadily increasing demand for mental health services, individuals and families who experience adversity may also experience barriers to accessing timely and affordable care. This service is funded by the Family Services of Saskatchewan.
Walk-in clinics available:
Melfort – Mondays – – 9:30am-3:30pm
Nipawin – Wednesdays and Fridays – 10:30am-3:30pm

2nd Stage Housing
A new second stage shelter will give domestic violence survivors a place to stay for up to 12 months after they’ve spent the maximum amount of time at the emergency shelter.
Personal Violence Prevention and Support Program
Our Personal Violence Counselors will work with you to help you explore your options, discover your strengths and encourage your personal growth.
- Supportive counseling, information, and advocacy through individual or group support sessions
- Referrals to other community agencies and help with coordination of the services you need
- Assistance with crisis situations
- Assistance with access to shelter and planning for your safety

As a regional program, we provide outreach services to those in need. Our Personal Violence Counselors can meet with you in your community, or you are welcome to come to our Melfort office for appointments.
Counselors travel to the following communities:

- and surrounding communities

24 Hour Crisis Line
Our 24 Hour Crisis Line provides:
- Telephone support in any crisis
- Supportive listening
- Information and referrals
You do not have to give your name and we do not subscribe to call display.
Public Awareness and Prevention
Our staff are available to provide education, awareness and prevention
presentations to any group of interested children, youth or adults.
Topics include but are not limited to:
- Interpersonal violence/abuse
- Dating violence
- Sexual Assault/abuse
- Healthy Relationships
- Resource Centre
Our Resource Centre is located on the main floor of our office and contains resources available to everyone.
