Red High Heels Make An Appearance At The Saskatchewan Legislature

On May 7, 2019 our Executive Director, Louise Schweitzer, had the opportunity to once again take our red high heels to the SK legislature.  This is something that she has been doing for the past couple of years as a way to introduce our provinces leaders to our organization and our mission.

Our friend, the late MLA Kevin Phillips, was a great believer in our organization and what we are doing for the people of North East, SK.  He often times spoke about us in the legislature and encouraged his counterparts to join him in bringing awareness to Domestic Violence and all other forms of interpersonal violence.  Kevin thought it would be great for Louise to bring her red high heels directly to legislature for the others to see and try on and to encourage them to get involved in Walk-A-Mile.  Since then she has been invited back each year to bring her red high heels and to encourage members to take part.

Walk-A-Mile In Her Shoes is an event that we have been hosting for the past 7 years.  In previous years the event has been help in Melfort and Nipawin, but this year we are going to be making our debut in Tisdale.  This year’s event has been organized in partnership with Bruce Schapansky Auctioneers and Winmar, and they are thrilled to be bringing this awareness event to their hometown.

If you have not already done so, please contact North East Outreach to register for the event.  You can call 306.752.9464 and we will be happy to assist you in registering.  Walk-A-Mile is taking place in Tisdale on May 28,2019 starting at 5pm.
